From a biological point of view, it represents the end of an organism's vital functions, and each culture has its rituals and beliefs related to it. Thanatology is a field of study that allows you to deepen your knowledge about death, understand its complexity and impacts. From the first stages of health training, students are faced with the reality of death, both in anatomy and physiology classes, and in the practical experience of internships, making it essential to create spaces for reflection and dialogue on the issue of death in healthcare. graduation. It is crucial that a health degree offers a comprehensive and humanized approach to the issue of death, transcending the mere biological vision to understand the different dimensions of the dying process. The study aimed to understand the experiences of health students in the process of death and dying. This is a qualitative research study, of an exploratory and descriptive nature, developed with 24 final-year students studying Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medicine and Psychology at a University in the north of Rio Grande do Sul. Data collection began after approval by the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) under opinion no. 6,899,715. Data collection took place in July 2024, through a questionnaire available on the internet, online, prepared on the Google Forms Platform, composed of guiding questions. The analysis technique used to process the data was thematic analysis, which resulted in three categories: Death from the perspective of students in the health field; Challenges facing the process of death and dying and; Training and contact thematic process of death and dying. With the results, it was observed that for students, death is a natural and inevitable process, however, the experiences during graduation caused countless feelings. The challenges encountered are related to the care provided to the patient, lack of psychological preparation, difficulty in dealing with one's own vulnerability, in recognizing the limits of interventions and support for the family. The students reported that during their undergraduate studies they had contact with the topic in some theoretical-practical disciplines, internships and specific lectures. Revealing the need for a more in-depth approach based on case discussions, conversation circles and lectures with experienced professionals. It is believed that this study will provide greater knowledge on the topic. The results may support discussions in academia, in order to rethink strategies in the training of the health area. By investing in training in thanatology, educational institutions will contribute to the training of professionals who are better prepared to deal with human finitude. This initiative is essential to guarantee quality, sensitive and welcoming care for patients and their families.pt-BREnfermagemHumanizaçãoEstudantes da área da saúdeVivências de estudantes da área da saúde frente ao processo de morte e morrerTrabalho de Conclusão de Curso
