The life expectancy has increased and continues to increase and, consequently, the elderly population as well. However, unfortunately, most traditional homes, which people live for a lifetime, do not meet the needs of an elderly person, after all, this process often results in reduced mobility, chronic diseases and others. Not only for this reason, but also for the elderly to have a specific institution for them, which enhances and values their knowledge, in addition to offering well-being, leisure, security and social interaction, is that a residential home for the elderly is essential. In view of this, architectural projects must respond to these human needs, in an increasingly older society. There is also a need to raise awareness among older people of the importance of residing in institutions targeted at them, disconnecting the relationship between homes for the elderly and hospitals. However, few cities in Brazil have this important architectural typology. Following this national reality, in the city of Gaurama, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, there is a small residential that does not meet the growing demand. Thus, the objective of this work is to propose, at the level of architectural design, a residential for the elderly for the city of Gaurama. The methodology involves bibliographic research on the topic, analysis of the terrain and its context and also similar case studies so that, afterwards, the preliminary study proposal is carried out. The research results show that quality nursing homes increase the residents' well-being and quality of life, through the activities offered, the coexistence and socialization among people, and mainly, through a welcoming and functional architecture.pt-BRArquitetura e UrbanismoEnvelhecerAcessibilidadeTrabalho de Conclusão de Curso
