Its objective is to present the responsibilities that children have towards their elderly parents, especially in cases of inverse emotional neglect, with a specific focus on civil responsibility. The specific aims include outlining the characterization of inverse emotional neglect, presenting the applicable legislation in such cases, and finally, demonstrating the consequences of inverse emotional neglect on the elderly. The methodology employed was a bibliographic research, utilizing an inductive approach as the research technique, and employing analytical-descriptive and explanatory methods for procedures. The study's objectives were achieved, as it was possible to discuss inverse emotional neglect and the lack of care and affection that many elderly individuals face, despite it being the duty of their children to protect, nourish, and provide for their basic needs. The study presents the applicable legislation in cases like the one at hand, along with doctrines and jurisprudence from Brazilian Courts of Law, in order to demonstrate the practice and accountability for inverse emotional neglect. Therefore, it fulfills all of its objectives and facilitates easy understanding and comprehension for the reader throughout all its chapters.pt-BRDireitoAbandono afetivoEstatuto do idosoResponsabilidade civilAbandono afetivo inverso: a responsabilidade civil dos filhos em relação aos pais idososTrabalho de Conclusão de Curso
