Parallel family arrangements represent an innovative way of cohabiting within the family, which has become increasingly common in contemporary society over the years. Parallel families refer to a situation in which someone is concurrently a member of two or more distinct family units, and this has sparked debates in the judicial system, as there is no clear provision in the Brazilian legal system on the subject. An investigation was conducted into past family structures, as well as an analysis of the principles guiding new forms of family organization, with a special focus on parallel families. Furthermore, the approaches employed to analyze the rights of those involved in parallel family units were explored, providing an analysis of various decisions from lower and higher Courts. The methods used for this research were inductive and analytical-descriptive, through bibliographic, documentary, and jurisprudential research.pt-BRDireitoUnião estávelMonogamiaFamílias paralelasO reconhecimento das famílias paralelas por parte dos tribunais de justiça brasileirosTrabalho de Conclusão de Curso
