Initially, the paper delves into the conceptual framework derived from the reviewed literature, outlining the philosophy employed in protection systems and the equipment utilized in their configuration, with a specific focus on transformer protection. The project context stems from the existing, outdated protections and envisions their replacement with a new, more technologically advanced system employing digital relays capable of processing multiple functions concurrently, enhancing the transformer protection system. The study highlights various protection functions to be implemented in the project, covering both external and intrinsic aspects of transformer protection, and emphasizing their significance within the application context. The paper also presents the calculation methodology for key protections and the testing methods to be employed. The replacement of obsolete relays with cutting-edge technology contributes significantly to increased efficiency and reliability in the power system. Bench testing serves as a valuable tool in uncovering potential issues that can be addressed before actual field installation. For testing purposes, the IEC-61850 protocol was employed, establishing an Ethernet network for connecting testing equipment and relays. Satisfactory results were obtained from bench testing, providing a valuable preview of future field tests that may suggest necessary adjustments.pt-BREngenharia ElétricaProteçãoAtualização do sistema de proteção de um transformador de alta tensão de 138kV/44kVTrabalho de Conclusão de Curso
