This absence of preparation is due to the lack of structure and acessibility to accommodate such professionals, alongside a deficiency of information, as well as, mostly, the high levels of prejudice. Some companies hire handicapped people for the sole reason of abiding by the law and avoiding fines, disregarding the person’s capability and potencial for the work assigned. It’s clear the lack of familiarity with handicapped people increase the prejudice, creating the idea that, due to the handicap, such person could not come to be a good professional and work well. The essay shows the acceptance and inclusion of people with handicap within the job market displays a vast legislation, granting rights and protecting the individual, however, there’s still a long way to go concerning society’s point of view, mostly regarding the employers. Even after centuries of evolution, it’s still long before the eradication of prejudice and deconstruction of the idea handicap means “inability”.
