We sought to present the concept of the special insured, identified through the social security regulations, which include the Federal Constitution, Law No. also the Normative Instructions, ordinances, circular letters, among others. The evolution of the Brazilian rural social security system and the system that came into force with the 1988 Constitution are analyzed. the rural worker. It appears that the social security policy, of which social security is a part, has mechanisms to prove rural activity, in order to improve the system for granting benefits, as well as to provide greater legal certainty to the social security system. Important issues raised by jurisprudence are presented, as well as recent legislative updates that promise to change the process of granting benefits to the special insured. The methodology used for the present work was the qualitative bibliographic research, with the use of doctrinal works, legislation, ordinances, official letters, technical notes, articles and documents that deal with the subject.
