Initially, it presents the alimony obligation, addressing its historical trajectory, legal and doctrinal conceptualization, highlighting its unique characteristics. Subsequently, it exposes the actions related to alimony and the enforcement modalities provided for in current legislation. The research emphasizes coercive measures, discussing the legal nature of the debtor's imprisonment and its doctrinal implications. Finally, it seeks to demonstrate the (in)effectiveness of this enforcement mechanism as a resource to ensure compliance with the alimony obligation, especially considering the difficulties that may arise in the enforcement by the debtor.
