Avaliação da qualidade de vida e funcionalidade: observação nas doenças neurodegenerativas x lesões neurológicas abruptas

Resumo
As doenças neurodegerativas são condições que afetam os neurônios do sistema nervoso central. Essas doenças são incuráveis e debilitantes e têm como consequência a degeneração progressiva e/ou morte dos neurônios, levando assim à perda progressiva de habilidades motoras, memória e alterações cognitivas. Já as doenças neurológicas abruptas são situações que acometem o sistema nervoso central de forma rápida e não progressiva. A falta de estudos na comparação da qualidade de vida (QV) e funcionalidade de pacientes com doenças degenerativas e neurológicas abruptas tornou-se motivo da presente investigação. O objetivo desse estudo foi observar se há melhor QV e funcionalidade em pacientes com doenças neurodegenerativas ou abruptas através das escalas Whoqol Bref para QV e Índice de Barthel para funcionalidade. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que na avaliação da QV os escores que mais pontuaram foi percepção da QV (3,7) no grupo de doenças degenerativas e meio ambiente (4,1) (p = 0,028) no abruptas. Já o que menos pontuou foi o físico para os dois grupos (3,7 e 3,1 respectivamente). Na Funcionalidade os itens com maior pontuação foi nas transferências e deambulação (11,9) no grupo de doenças neurodegenerativas e transferências (12,7) no abruptas. Já as menores pontuações foi no item banho (3,8) no grupo degenerativas e Higiene (4) no abruptas. Conclui-se assim que a funcionalidade e QV são muito semelhantes entre os grupos, percebendo-se média de qualidade de vida considerada regular nos dois grupos, mesmo que a funcionalidade tanto para os indivíduos com lesão neurológica neurodegenerativas e abruptas sejam consideradas dependência leve.
Abstract/Resumen
Neurodegenerative diseases are conditions that affect the central nervous system neurons. These diseases are incurable and debilitating and result in progressive degeneration and / or death of neurons, thus leading to progressive loss of motor skills, memory and cognitive impairment. Abrupt neurological diseases are situations that affect the central nervous system quickly and not progressively. The lack of studies comparing the quality of life (QV) and functionality of patients with abrupt degenerative and neurological diseases has become the reason for the present investigation. The aim of this study was to observe whether there is better QV and functionality in patients with abrupt or neurodegenerative disease using the Whoqol Bref QV scales and the Barthel Index for functionality. The results showed that in the QV evaluation, the scores that scored the highest was the perception of QV (3.7) in the group of degenerative diseases and environment (4.1) (p = 0.028) in the abrupt. The least scored was the physical for both groups (3.7 and 3.1 respectively). In Functionality, the items with the highest score were transfers and ambulation (11.9) in the group of neurodegenerative diseases and transfers (12.7) in the abrupt group. The lowest scores were in the item bath (3.8) in the degenerative group and Hygiene (4) in the abrupt. It is concluded that the functionality and QOL are very similar between the groups, and the average quality of life considered normal in both groups was observed, even though the functionality for individuals with neurodegenerative and abrupt neurological injury is considered mild dependence.
