dc.description.abstractAbdominal surgeries have a high risk of compromising the patient's general condition, generating respiratory and functional complications due to immobility in the hospital intervention. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the degree of functionality of patients hospitalized in the postoperative period of abdominal surgery. This is a cross-sectional-exploratory-descriptive-quantitative study, which consisted of a sample of 20 patients who underwent abdominal surgery at Santa Terezinha Hospital Foundation in Erechim - RS. These ones were submitted to the “Timed Up And Go” test evaluation and verification of the degree of functional independence from the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) scale. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 22.0 software and correlations were performed using the Chi-Square test / Fisher's exact test, with a significance level of p <0.05. 35% of the patients' functionality were reduced in the general classification of FIM and self-care, 55% in the mobility category and 77% in the postoperative category of postoperative abdominal surgery. A statistically significant association was observed between functionality and risk of falls (p= 0,017) and between the FIM locomotion category and risk of falls (p= 0,022) in patients undergoing abdominal surgery. It concludes that in patients undergoing abdominal surgeries there might be a decline in mobility and functionality, exposing the patient to a higher risk of falls and justifying the importance of preventive physiotherapist performance in the hospital environment.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoAs cirurgias abdominais têm grande risco de comprometer o estado geral do paciente, gerando complicações respiratórias e funcionais por imobilidade no leito na intervenção hospitalar. Diante disso, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o grau de funcionalidade de pacientes hospitalizados em pós-operatório de cirurgias abdominais. Trata-se de um estudo de cunho transversal, exploratório, descritivo e quantitativo, que constou com uma amostra composta de 20 pacientes submetidos à cirurgia abdominal na FHST do município de Erechim-RS. Os pacientes foram submetidos a avaliação do teste “Timed Up And Go e verificação do grau de independência funcional a partir da escala de Medida de Independência Funcional (MIF). A análise estatística foi realizada pelo programa SPSS 22.0 e as correlações foram realizadas por meio do teste Qui-Quadrado/Teste Exato de Fisher, com nível de significância para p<0,05. Encontraram-se reduzidos 35% da funcionalidade dos pacientes na classificação geral da MIF e na categoria autocuidado, 55% na categoria mobilidade e 77% na categoria locomoção no pós-operatório de cirurgias abdominais. Observou-se uma associação estatisticamente significativa entre a capacidade funcional e o risco de quedas (p= 0,017) e entre a categoria locomoção da MIF com o risco de quedas (p=0,022). Conclui-se que em pacientes submetidos às cirurgias abdominais pode ocorrer um declínio de mobilidade e funcionalidade, expondo o paciente a um maior risco de quedas e justificando a importância da atuação preventiva do fisioterapeuta no ambiente hospitalar.pt_BR
